Manufactured in Italy and Germany respectively, both these tyres have been subjected to rigorous testing.
The Pirelli P ZERO, according to Automotorsport and ACE, excels particularly in dry handling, dry lane changing, dry steering response, and wet handling. This allows it to deliver stable and consistent performance, regardless of the conditions. However, its positions in the mutual tests were 4th (GTÜ), 5th (Automotorsport, SportAuto), 6th (Sportscars) and 7th (ACE). This suggests room for improvement in several areas compared to other tyres tested.
Meanwhile, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 has been praised for its low rolling resistance and dry driving behavior. Lower rolling resistance translates to improved fuel efficiency, making this tyre a more economical choice. It notably came 1st in Automotorsport's test and took high positions in the remaining tests: 2nd (SportAuto, GTÜ), 3rd (Sportscars), and 8th (ACE).
Differing from the Pirelli P ZERO with no subsequent iteration, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 was replaced by the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5. This new model may bring improvements over its predecessor, so it's also worth keeping an eye on.
In summary, both the Pirelli P ZERO and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 exhibit specific strengths. However, considering the data from the mutual tests, the Goodyear tyre takes the lead in terms of ranking consistency. If fuel efficiency is a priority, the Goodyear model would be a better choice due to its lower rolling resistance. On the contrary, if the priority lies in dry and wet handling, the Pirelli tyre might be a better fit.
